5 Days Uganda Wildlife Tour

5 Days on a Uganda safari is not enough to explore every bit of the beautiful pearl of Africa, however, they can still take you to see the mountain gorillas; the most endangered world species only left in three countries of Uganda, Rwanda and D.R. Congo plus several wildlife species, they cannot simply disappoint you.
The five days in Uganda involve wildlife viewing especially the most sought species; the tree climbing lions found in only two places in East Africa, the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park in Uganda and in Tanzania. A game drive that also exposes you to more than 70 mammal species that dwell in this park

You then proceed to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park, now a home to more than 500 mountain gorillas, that is almost three quarters of the total remaining population of these endangered mountain gorillas and the Batwa community; the first inhabitants of the forest.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park.
Early morning after breakfast, be picked up by a knowledgeable and experienced tour guide from the airport or the lodge where you will have spent the previous night and start on the journey to Queen Elizabeth national park in western Uganda.
The journey itself is an experience of its own, you will have a stopover at the equator in Kayabwe,a line that divides the world into two hemispheres and experience the water experiment that shows how water spurls to different directions in the opposite hemispheres.

Have a lunch stopover in Mbarara at Igongo cultural center, Uganda’s famous cultural museum that displays almost all the cultures of western Uganda. Embark again on the journey to the park and one the way you will have views of the beautiful sceneries of the Kigezi hills and many other stunning wonders as well the green savannah lying beside the road.

Day 2: Morning game drive and a launch cruise on Kazinga Channel.
In the morning, after an early breakfast, embark on the safari vehicle for a morning game drive through the park. This expose you to a wide number of wildlife species like elephants, buffaloes, Uganda Kobs, warthogs, hyenas, leopards, lions, waterbucks, oribis, topis and many others. And just spotting them, but real up close encounters in the jungle. You will also have spectacular views of the numerous craters and crater lakes rolled in the valleys of hills.

In the afternoon, having had a palatable lunch meal, have a relaxation with a boat ride on the Kazinga channel, probably the longest channel in the world joining Lake Edward and George, giving you striking views of the highest concentration of hippos in Africa, countless crocodiles and several sea bird species.

Day 3: Lion tracking in Ishasha sector and Transfer to Bwindi national park
Early morning after breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive to the ishasha sector to track the tree climbing lions as we drive to Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park, the prime home of mountain gorillas in Africa, with almost three quarters of the total population of the remaining mountain gorillas in the world. The tree climbing lions are one of the most sought species on almost all wildlife safaris In Uganda, and a drive through Ishasha guarantees a 90% chance of spotting these rare species.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi national park.
Early morning at 7am, head to the park headquarters for a simple briefing from the local tour guide. Be divided into groups of eight people to trek one gorilla family. Trekking these endangered apes involves walking into the jungle in search of the mighty apes in their natural setting. Hiking through the thick forest, having to hold onto tree branches for support and pave your way through the forest with your hands or a hand stick, the experience is simply thrilling.
On encountering them, spend one magical hour with the great gorillas, watching them conduct their daily lives, spot the juveniles play from one tree branch to another and also the silverbacks aggressively watch over their family members.
In the afternoon, after lunch, you can go for an optional cultural encounter with the Batwa pygmies, the ancient people of the forest believed to be the first inhabitants of Bwindi forest. Explore the lives of the local Batwa, watch traditional performances and also the have a taste of the local cuisines.

Day 5: Departure.
In the morning after breakfast, drive back to Kampala, or directly to the airport to catch up with the flight back home.
