2 Days gorilla trek is run from Kigali to either Bwindi national park or to Mgahinga national park. Located in Southwestern Uganda, the park is home to quite a good population of the remaining mountain gorillas in the world. It’s one of the few places in the world where visitors get to see these endangered animals in the wild.
Mgahinga National Park is the only destination in Uganda where silver meets gold. It is very possible to spot both the mountain gorillas as well as the golden monkeys on one Uganda safari in Mgahinga national park.
This 2 day gorilla safari exposes you to chances for up close encounters with the beautiful giants of the jungle, an experience that is simply one in a lifetime.

Itinerary Breakdown

– DAY 1: Pickup from Kigali – Have Genocide memorial site tour / Visit Batwa pygmies on early arrival in Bwindi national park
– Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking – Transfer to Kigali

Detailed Itinerary

DAY 1: PICK UP AT THE LODGE, TRANSFER TO UGANDA AND VISIT THE BATWA COMMUNITY.
Very early in the morning after breakfast, be picked by our knowledgeable guide who will transfer you to Mgahinga national park. The journey itself is an experience of its own. It furnishes spectacular views of the Virunga chain of volcanoes that are shared by the three countries – Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
On reaching the park, check in at the lodge, have lunch and relax. In the evening, go for a community walk to have an encounter with the Batwa pygmies of the forest. Experience their way of life, taste their local cuisines, enjoy traditional performances and see the world through their eyes.

Day 2: GORILLA TREKKING AND TRANSFER BACK TO KIGALI.
Have an early breakfast and head to Mgahinga national park headquarters in order to catch up with the gorilla trekking briefing in time. It is almost half an hour or one hour drive to the park headquarters, (depending on the lodge you stayed at). Here be briefed by the park guide on the Do’s and Don’ts while trekking the great giants of the jungle. Be divided into groups of eight; the accepted number of trekkers to see a gorilla family per day.
Having been briefed, now enter into the jungle to hunt for the endangered creatures of the forest. Trek through thick forest, on slippery grounds, having to hold onto tree branches for support, avoiding thorny trees and somewhere having to pave your way through, while searching for these great apes.

Eventually, you will meet a gorilla family in its natural habitat, watch the juveniles as they play with each other, others fighting, lucky trekkers watch adult females as they breastfeed the little ones. See the mighty silverback aggressively watch over his family, pounding his chest to threaten away the suspected threats. Take as many pictures as you want provided the camera has no flash as it might scare away the apes.
